If you and your family are looking for a way to commune with nature, the Jackson County Visitor Center can direct you to many beautiful campsites that are perfect for a short getaway. No matter what type of camping you may be interested in, our sites will have you covered. Our outdoor areas also offer campers a variety of activities, from horseback riding to golfing.
Camping is a wonderful activity for individuals or entire families. It is an affordable and easy way to get out of the city for a short time and enjoy nature. All of the campsites offer a perfect way to disconnect from your phone, computer, or job, and fully relax. Visitors can also enjoy fishing in rivers, lakes, and ponds; exploring the parks; and, particularly in the case of children, learning new outdoor skills. First-time campers can learn how to erect a tent, gather firewood, build a fire, and cook over an open flame.
Our recreational areas and parks offer three types of campsites: cabins, RV sites, and primitive sites. Cabins are perfect when the weather is too hot or cold, or for first-time campers who are not yet fully committed to sleeping outside. Our RV sites give visitors a spot to hook up their camper, complete with electricity and water. The primitive campsites are designed for traditional camping, with tents and cooking over an open fire.
As mentioned above, camping with children is a wonderful way to teach them new skills. Removing everyday distractions, such as school and television, allows for quality family time. Along with the activities already discussed, Jackson County also hosts several events popular with children, including a child triathlon, a turkey trot, and the Migratory Bird Festival.
So, the next time you are planning a trip, contact the Jackson County Visitor Center to reserve one of our campsites for a visit you will never forget.
