Jackson County has a variety of fun to offer this weekend, and the calendar is full!

This weekend includes multiple events that offers all kinds of fun, food, and more from Thursday through Sunday. Three of the events are festivals!

Here is your guide to the weekend in Jackson County this week.

Thursday, September 17

Art show receptionSICA’s reception for the 2020 SICA Juried Art Show sponsored by the Seymour Edward Jones offices is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the center, 2001 N. Ewing Street. The show will be available for public viewing during the month of September.

Friday, September 18

German fest – Need a taste of a German festival? The Knights of Columbus Council 1252 in Seymour has organized Spatsommer Fest! Click here to see everything the festival will offer. The festival is from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, September 18 and Saturday 19 in the B and O Parking Lot off Second Street in Seymour. There will be food, vendors, a bier garten, entertainment and more!

Celebrate – Girls Inc. of Jackson County had to postponed its annual Gala, and now they have decided to offer the event virtually! This year they are honoring Terrye Davidson (well deserved!) as their Champion of Girls. Live music at Rails – Trevor Delk will be performing at 7 p.m. on the patio at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery in downtown Seymour.  Join in on the fun with some dinner, drinks and a neat atmosphere in downtown!

Live music at On the Rox – The Hickbillys will be performing on the patio at On the Rox. They will play all your favorite country, classic rock and blues covers as well as some originals!.

DJ at On the Rox – DJ YT will be playing all your favorite tunes from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m. at On the Rox.

Saturday, September 19

Farmers market – Time is beginning to run out for the Seymour Area Farmers Market as its season ends at the end of this month. Now is the time to get all your fresh Jackson County produce and other goodies at the Seymour Area Farmers Market. As always, the market is open from 8 a.m. to noon.

A festival for everyone – Togetherfest is taking place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Heritage Park near the Jackson County Courthouse in Brownstown. There will be food, music, vendors and fun. A corn hole tournament is scheduled for youth (15 and under) at noon and adults for 3 p.m. It’s $5 per team for youth and $10 for adults.

Fun shoppingSeymour Main Street’s September Downtown Shop Around will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at various businesses in Downtown Seymour. Multiple stores will participate and each location will have a punch card. Collect punches from each participating store and return your card to your last shopping stop. Winners will be drawn based on the number of punches collected!

Festival with history – Kiln Fest is coming to the former Medora Brick Plant from noon to midnight! There will be music throughout the day as well as all your favorite foods! Come support this group as they try to raise money to restore the area to make a new park! Click here for everything the festival will have.

BBQ Fundraiser – Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department is having its annual Chicken BBQ from 4 to 7 p.m. at the fire station in Cortland. It’s drive thru only this year! Come support those who support the community!

Prepare to laughSeedlings + Company will be hosting the Seedling Social from 6 to 9 p.m. at  Rails Craft Brew and EateryThe evening will include dinner (6:30 p.m.), shopping and fun. Viral video creators and well-known entertainers, Kristin & Danny to the stage after dinner for fun and laughter. Order tickets by clicking here.

Live music at Harmony Park – There will be live music at Harmony Park outside the Seymour Brewing Company. Sit outside at Harmony Park where you can indulge in your favorite pizza, craft beer and other menu items from the Brooklyn Pizza Company.

Live music at Rails – Grube and Boyd Family will be performing at 7 p.m. on the patio at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery in downtown Seymour.  Join in on the fun with some dinner, drinks and a neat atmosphere in downtown!

Live music at Jackson Live – The Doo Wops will perform at 7 p.m. at Jackson Live. Tickets are $15 and the venue is limited to 50% capacity. Additional measures have been taken to help maintain social distancing. For tickets, call 812-521-1282.

Dart Tournament at On the Rox – There will be a dart tourney at 7 p.m. at On the Rox. IT is a blind draw teams and double elimination. It’s a 70/30 split between first and second place. It’s $10 to enter. Sign up begins at 6:30 p.m.

DJ night at On the Rox – There will be to DJs at On the Rox Saturday night beginning at 9 p.m. DJ T-Roy will be going on at 9 p.m. while DJ YT will go on at 10 p.m.

Sunday, September 20

Fish Fry – Trinity Lutheran Church in Vallonia is offering the community a carryout fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church, 4381 State Road 135. It’s a free will donation!
