We’re just a little bit past the halfway point of the Jackson County Fair, so there’s plenty of fun left at the fairgrounds to finish out the week. But there’s still plenty to do in Jackson County if the fair isn’t really your thing.

Thursday, July 29

Trivia Night – It’s the final Patty Bros Entertainment Trivia Night at Harmony Park in Seymour. All the fun starts at 6 p.m. Who will be crowned the champion?

Let’s go racing – It’s Thursday Night Thunder at the Brownstown Speedway, so it will be loud at the fairgrounds. The Pro Late Models will be in Memory of Don Gardner, a former fair board member. Hot laps start at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $15, $2 for children 6-12, children under 6 are free.

Unlimited Rides – Rides at Poor Jack’s Amusements are unlimited from 6 p.m. to close with a $20 bracelet at the Jackson County Fair.


Friday, July 30

Celebrate the End of Summer – The Seymour Parks and Recreation Department has organized the annual End of Summer Escape from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sheilds Park. The day will include an inflatable obstacle course, slides, bounce houses, free afternoon admission to the Shields Park Pool, drawing for school supplies and free refreshments!

Block Party! – Everyone is invited to a block party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Seymour Place, 2288 Nicholas Court, Seymour. The assisted living community will have a cookout for a freewill donationand a raffle, and all proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County.

Celebrate 26 Years – Hearts Desire Gift Shop in Seymour is celebrating 26 years in business. The store will have 26% off everything during store hours and have samples of dips and other foods. Support local!

Bagpipe show – The Southern Indiana Bagpipe and Drums will perform at 6 p.m. at Harmony Park in Seymour.

Unlimited Rides – Rides at Poor Jack’s Amusements are unlimited from 6 p.m. to close with a $25 bracelet at the Jackson County Fair.

Live Music at Rails – Damon Mitchell will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery.

Sounds of Summer – Sounds of Summer, a Beach Boys Tribute Band, will perform at 8 p.m. at the Grandstand at the Jackson County Fair. Tickets are $10.


Saturday, July 31

Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon in the Walnut Street Parking Lot.

Celebrate books – Join the Magic of Books Bookstore from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Seymour for its one-year anniversary! There will be games, prizes, local authors, treats and all kinds of other fun!

Race Time – The Grand Champion Fair 8th Annual “Paul Crocket Memorial” sponsored by the Jackson County Fair will take place at Brownstown Speedway. Admission is $20, $2 for children 6-12, children under 6 are free.

Live Music at Poplar Street – Bad Medicine will play at 8 p.m. at Poplar Street Restaurant.
