Take a look at the schedule for this weekend! It’s the busiest weekend to date for Jackson County in 2022! The best part is, the variety offers something for everyone!

Thursday, August 18

SICA Art Club – Join the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts’ Art Club from 2 to 7 p.m. at the center, 2001 North Ewing Street, Seymour. Bring what you’ve been working on and enjoy the company of other artists.

Seymour City Jam – Join Seymour Main Street for the Seymour City Jam at 6:30 p.m. at Crossroads Community Park in downtown Seymour. This month will feature Sounds of Summer, a Beach Boys Tribute Band. Food and drinks will be available beginning at 6 p.m. Don’t forget to stop by the sponsor booths too!

Live music at Harmony Park –  Rick Fettig will play at 6:30 p.m. at Harmony Park at the Brooklyn Pizza Company 753 West Second Street, Seymour. 


Friday, August 19

Jackson County History Center Rummage Sale – The Jackson County History Center will have a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the center, 105 South Sugar Street, Brownstown.

Live music at Chateau de Pique Winery – Gary Applegate & Joe Rock will play from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chateau de Pique Winery and Brewery, 6361 North County Road 760E, Seymour.

Cops & Kids Car Show – The Fraternal Order of Police Cops and Kids Tom Gray Memorial Car Show will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. in downtown Seymour.

Live music at Harmony Park –  These Fine Gentlemen will play at 6 p.m. at Harmony Park at the Brooklyn Pizza Company 753 West Second Street, Seymour. 

Live music at Poplar Street Restaurant – Mike Staublin will play at  7 p.m. at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour.

Live music at Rails – Mitch Ellis will play at 7 p.m. at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery, 114 St. Louis Avenue, Seymour.

Live music at the Eagles – ASH will play at 7:30 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 122 East Second Street, Seymour.

Live music at On the Rox – Hewitt & Fink will perform at 8 p.m. on the patio at On the Rox, 214 South Broadway Street, Seymour.


Saturday, August 20

Seymour Area Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will operate from 8 a.m. to noon in the Walnut Street Parking Lot in Seymour.

Seymour Firefighters Local 577 Golf Scramble – Join the Seymour Firefighters Local 577 for the fourth annual golf scramble at 8 a.m. at Shadowood Golf Course. Guided Bird Walk – Join the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge for its monthly Guided Bird Walk! The easy and short bird walks will start at 8 a.m. in the refuge visitor center parking lot.

Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1035 A Avenue, Seymour. Be sure to check out this wonderful place that is open each Saturday!

Follow the Son Car Show – Redeemer Lutheran Church will host the Follow the Son Car Show from noon to 3 p.m. at the church, 504 North Walnut Street, Seymour. Food will be available and the show benefits the church’s parochial students.

Pig in the Park – The Seymour Noon Lions Club will host the annual Pig in the Park fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. at Gaiser Park, 300 South Chestnut Street, Seymour. The event will feature a pulled pork dinner, music, vendor booths with community partners and resources and more.

Benefit Ride – Russell Chapel Church will host a benefit ride at noon that will begin at the home of Kyle and Glenna Newberry. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. and the cost is $25. The ride is open to Jeeps, side-by-sides, cars and trucks. Dinner will be provided following the ride, and the proceeds for the event will go toward replacing windows and doors at the church. Live music at Harmony Park –  Michael Staublin will play from 3 t o5:30 p.m. at Harmony Park at the Brooklyn Pizza Company 753 West Second Street, Seymour. 

Bluegrass Jamboree – The Norman Station Conservation Club Bluegrass Jamboree will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at the club, 12157 West County Road 450N, Norman. There will be food and drinks available for purchase. The concert is free to attend. Information: 812-525-7194.

Scoop the Loop – One of your favorite summer traditions will return! Scoop the Loop is scheduled at 6 p.m. so bring your ride and lawn chairs to enjoy the evening.

Karaoke – The Pacey Apothecary will host karaoke from 6 to 9 p.m. during Scoop the Loop at the store, 125 West Second Street, Seymour.

Race – It’s race night at Brownstown Speedway! Be sure to stop by the track and see the Pro Late Models, Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, Hornets, and Crown Vics. View the full schedule and get ticket information at brownstownspeedway.com.

BBQ & Fireworks Show – Stuckwisch Power Washing and Gray Dumpster Rental will host a BBQ & Fireworks Show at 6:30 p.m. at 5 North County Road 600E, Seymour. Kayla Griffen will be performing during the event. Those who attend are invited to bring a covered dish or dessert and lawn chairs.

Live music at Poplar Street Restaurant – Another Fine Mess will play at  7 p.m. at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour.

 Rails Scoop the Loop celebration – There will be a Scoop the Loop celebration at 7 p.m. at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery, 114 St. Louis Avenue, Seymour.


Sunday, August 21 

Wine & Yoga – Wild Moon Yoga will host the Wine and Yoga Tour at 10:30 a.m. at Salt Creek Winery in Freetown. Practice Yoga in a beautiful setting and enjoy wines from a great Jackson County winery. Click here for tickets.

Fun, Food, Faith Festival – Lutheran Central School will host its first Fun, Food, Faith Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the school, 415 North Elm Street, Brownstown. The event will feature an amateur cook off, local food trucks, live music, a corn hole tournament, bake walk, 50/50 raffle and more.

Wednesday, August 24

Wednesday Evening Rides – Join the Jackson County Bicycle Club for its Wednesday Evening Ride. The group will leave at 6 p.m. from Central Christian Church, 1434 West Second Street from the parking lot facing Westgate Road. This week they will reach 10 miles. The group increases each week by a half mile until they reach 10-mile rides each week through October. Visit the Facebook group for updates and more information.

Open Mic Night – Mike Staublin will host Open Mic Night at 6 p.m. at Harmony Park at the Brooklyn Pizza Company 753 West Second Street, Seymour.
