Fall is in full swing! There are many wonderful traditions and quality events in Jackson County during October! Don’t miss a single one with the Jackson County Visitor Center’s Know Before You Go Guide! Monday, October 24

Downtown Trick or Treat – Seymour Main Street will host its annual Downtown Trick or Treat where children can visit participating businesses who will hand out treats. There also will be a downtown parade and costume contest offered by the Seymour Evening Lions Club.


Tuesday, October 25

Pumpkin Painting – The Jackson County Public library will host a Pumpkin Painting event at 4:30 p.m. at the Seymour Branch, 303 West Second Street, Seymour. This event is open to grade Kindergarten through fifth grade. Click here to be added to the waiting list. 

BINGO Night – The Delta Theta Tau Blingo Fundraiser will take place at 7 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 122 East Second Street, Seymour. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and bingo participants will have a chance to win prizes from Ewing Unique Boutique, including purses and jewelry. There will be food, raffles and a 50/50 drawing. All proceeds will go back to the community. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by emailing thetazetachapter@gmail.com


Wednesday, October 26

Pumpkin Painting – The Jackson County Public library will host a Pumpkin Painting event at 10:30 a.m. at the Seymour Branch, 303 West Second Street, Seymour. This event is open to ages 2 through 5. Click here to be added to the waiting list. 

Wednesday Evening Rides – Join the Jackson County Bicycle Club for its Wednesday Evening Ride. The group will leave at 6 p.m. from Central Christian Church, 1434 West Second Street from the parking lot facing Westgate Road. This week’s ride is 10 miles. The group will ride 10 miles every Wednesday through October. Visit the Facebook group for updates and more information.

Fall Lock In – The Jackson County Public Library will offer a Fall Lock In from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the branch in Seymour, 202 West Second Street. The night will feature video games, treats, and more. The event is open to those in grades 6 through 12. A signed permission slip is required by October 25.

Rails Halloween Spooktacular – Rails Craft Brew + Eatery will host a Halloween Spooktacular from 7 p.m. to midnight that will include three live bands, door prizes, adult beverages, food, prizes for best couple costume, most original, and most creative. Tickets are $10 and are limited to 100 people, and includes a beer and enter into a drawing for door prizes. Purchase tickets at the bar.

Fear Fair – Fear Fair – Indiana’s Scariest Haunted House will be from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the house, 800 A Avenue, Seymour. Click here for tickets.

Starve Hollow SRA Halloween Spooktacular – Starve Hollow State Recreation Area will host its annual Halloween Spooktacular with a monster sightings event from 9 to 10 p.m. at the campground in Vallonia.  The event is open to the public, you do not have to camp overnight to attend.

Starve Hollow SRA Halloween Spooktacular – Starve Hollow State Recreation Area will host its annual Halloween Spooktacular from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the campground in Vallonia. The event is open to the public, you do not have to camp overnight to attend. The day includes costume cornhole tournament for kids and adults (10 a.m.), Traffic Stops (3:30 to 6 p.m.), Trick or Treat and campsite decoration contest (4 to 6 p.m.), Haunted House (8 to 10 p.m.)

Stories from the Grave – The Jackson County Public Library will host Stories from the Grace by author and speaker Joy Neighbors of A Grave Interest at 2 p.m. at the Seymour location. Register by October 27. 812-523-4636.

Children’s Halloween Party – The  Seymour Moose Lodge 418 will host a Children’s Halloween Party from 2 to 4 p.m. at the lodge, 110 East Sixth Street, Seymour. The event will feature food, carnival games, drinks, treats, and a costume contest.

Adult Halloween Party – The  Seymour Moose Lodge 418 will host an adult Halloween Party from 7 to 11 p.m. at the lodge, 110 East Sixth Street, Seymour. The event is open to the public and those who attend can participant in a costume contest. The evening will feature live music by Fred + Steve.

Movie night at Tiemeyer’s Farm Market – Tiemeyer’s Farm Market will show ‘Poltergeist’ at sundown on the lawn of the market, 3147 South 300W, Vallonia. It’s free to attend and those who do should bring lawn chairs and blankets.

All Hallows Eve Wrestling Match – Racin’ Mason Fun Zone and Supreme Wrestling have teamed up to offer the All Hallows Eve wrestling match at 3 p.m. at Racin’ Mason Pizza & Fun Zone, 357 Tanger Boulevard, Seymour. Doors pen at 2 p.m. and tickets are $10 at the door with proceeds going to the Arby’s Foundation.

Friday, November 4

Borchers Supper & Bazaar –St. Paul Lutheran Church – Borchers will host its annual Supper & Bazaar from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church, 10792 North County Road, 210E, Seymour. The meal is a free will offering and will feature a turkey and ham dinner with all the trimmings and a bazaar will feature homemade crafts, baked good and canned goods.

Pink Wagon Market – The Pink Wagon Market will be from 5 to 10 p.m. at Celebrations in the Shoppes of Seymour. It’s $5 to enter. Click here for our guide to the market.

Saturday, November 5

Pink Wagon Market – The Pink Wagon Market will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Celebrations in the Shoppes of Seymour. It’s $5 to enter. Click here for our guide to the market.

Immanuel Craft Show – The 40th annual Immanuel Lutheran Church Ladies Aid 3 Arts & Craft Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran School, 520 South Chestnut Street, Seymour. Both of the school’s gyms will be filled with handmade items including holiday items, jewelry, pet treats, paintings, books, candles, quilts, American Girl clothing, decorations, wooden items, food, and more. Lunch available for purchase.

Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1035 A Avenue, Seymour. If you cannot make it during those hours, you may schedule a tour by calling 812-271-1821.

Darts for Hearts – On the Rox will host Darts for Hearts at 11 a.m. at the restaurant, 214 South Broadway Street, Seymour. The doors will open at 10 a.m., which is when participants may sign up. Team draws/shuffle is at 11 a.m. It’s $20 to enter with half of the pot going to the winner and the other half to Riley Children’s Hospital. There also will be a 50/50 raffle. Fall Festival –  The Freetown Church of Christ will host its Fall Festival from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church, 7077 North State Road 135, Freetown. The evening will include hay rides, a bounce house, corn hole, food and more.  For more information, call Melissa at 812-216-4124.

Sunday, November 6

Immanuel Lutheran Church Childcare Dinner – The Immanuel Lutheran Church Child Care Dinner & Dessert Auction is set for 5 p.m. November 6, at Pewter Hall, 850 West Sweet Street, Brownstown. Tickets are $20 for ages 9 and up, and $10 for ages 4-8, children 3 and under are free. Tables of 8 are also available for $140. Tickets can be purchased at Immanuel Lutheran Church office by October 28.
