This weekend is packed full of fun all throughout Jackson County. This weekend features plenty of opportunities to catch live music, celebrate fall, and get your haunts in!

The Jackson County Visitor Center has you covered for everything you need to know about what there is to do in Jackson County, so take a look.

Please practice social distancing, wear a mask and wash your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer while you enjoy Jackson County!

Thursday, October 15

Story time – Join the Seymour Parks and Recreation Department for its story time featuring “Spookly the Square Pumpkin.” The story starts at 10 a.m. at the Seymour Community Center, 107 South Chestnut St., and includes a craft and snack. Register at www.seymourin.recdesk.com. It’s limited to 10 children.

Friday, October 16

Live music at Vat & Barrel – Rich Hampton will be performing at 7 p.m. Vat & Barrel in downtown Seymour.  Check out their special menu and great drinks!

HauntingFear Fair – Indiana’s Scariest Haunted House runs again this weekend, beginning Friday night. It serves up haunts from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturday and 8 to 10 p.m. Sundays. Click here to order tickets.

Movie night – It’s movie night at Tiemeyer’s Farm Market in Vallonia and Friday they will be showing a movie on the lawn outside the market. Contact them for the movie title. Bring your own lawn chair and blankets for this free event! Popcorn will be available. They’re showing a different movie every Friday and Saturday night through Halloween. The movie starts at dusk or around 8 p.m. They now will be offering hayrides! Check their Facebook page for details.

Saturday, October 17

Hunting class – The Indiana DNR will offer a hunter education class from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Carr Township Conservation Club, 7709 W. County Road 350S, Medora. The course will show participants firearm safety while hunting and while at home, hunter ethics and responsibility, game identification, and conservation management. It’s a two-part class that includes a day on Sunday at 1 p.m. Register for the class by clicking here.

Farmers market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market is open for its Fall hours. Now is the time to get all your fresh Jackson County produce and other goodies at the Seymour Area Farmers Market. The hours are 9 a.m. to noon.

Legendary fish fry – Join the Driftwood Township Volunteer Fire Department for its fish fry from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the department, 3234 Water St. Vallonia. These are the same sandwiches they serve up at Fort Vallonia Days. It will be for carryout orders only. They also will raffle off a FosTech 300blk lightweight rifle. Fall show – Rough and Rusty will host a Fall picking Party from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 17 and 18 at their store 1103 W. Commerce St., Brownstown. This event will include multiple vendors and more.  Vendors will include Color Street, wax melts, boutiques, wood art, paintings, jewelry and antiques. Tacos Mi Casita and Rolling Pig Pin Bakery will be food vendors.

Time for a bike ride – The Seymour Parks and Recreation Department will host a Blast Off to the Parks Family Bike Ride from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brooklyn Pizza Company. Brooklyn Pizza will be offering an “Everything in the Park” pizza with a portion of the proceeds going to the Seymour Parks and Recreation. This event will include rock painting, outdoor activities and live music by Forrest Turner from 6 to 8 p.m.

Drive In – The Seymour Area Cruisers will host its Fall Cruise In from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Sonic in Seymour. Catch up and check out all the neat rides!

rOctober –  Join Starve Hollow State Recreation Area for rOctober CampFest! Crane Hill will perform on the stage from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. It’s a $7 gate fee (per vehicle).
