First, Happy Veterans Day. The Jackson County Visitor Center would like to take a moment to thank those who have served our country. We are indebted to you for your service. A special thank you goes to Lloyd Hudson, our office information specialist, who served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1965.

This weekend features shopping, craft shows, musicals, live music and more! Plus, a few events for next week.

Here’s Your Guide to the Weekend from the Jackson County Visitor Center.

Thursday, November 11 – Happy Veterans Day

Veterans Day Service – The city of Seymour will host its Veterans Day Service at 9 a.m. at the war memorial at Gaiser Park.

Country Neighbors Tour – The Country Neighbors “Home for the Holidays” tour will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at home-based businesses in Jackson and Lawrence counties. Stop by the visitor center for a brochure.

Veterans Day Service – The town of Brownstown will host its Veterans Day service at 11 a.m. at the historic Jackson County Courthouse.

Crothersville Veterans Day Program – The Crothersville Junior/Senior History Club will host a Veterans Day Program at 1:30 p.m. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to the program.

Emma!: A Pop Musical – Seymour High School Choral Department will present Emma!: A Pop Musical at 7 p.m. at Earl D. Prout Auditorium. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Purchase at the SHS Main office or order online by clicking here.


Friday, November 12

Country Neighbors Tour – The Country Neighbors “Home for the Holidays” tour will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at home-based businesses in Jackson and Lawrence counties. Stop by the visitor center for a brochure.

Christmas Open House – Anytime Florals in Brownstown will host its Christmas Open House from 2 to 8 p.m. There will be refreshments, door prizes and discounts.

Emma!: A Pop Musical – Seymour High School Choral Department will present Emma!: A Pop Musical at 7 p.m. at Earl D. Prout Auditorium. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Purchase at the SHS Main office or order online by clicking here.

“The SeussOdyssey” – Trinity Lutheran High School will present “The SeussOdyssey” at 7 p.m. in the Commons at Trinity Lutheran High School. Tickets are $10.

Live Music at the Seymour Brewing Co. – Bomar and Ritter will play at 7 p.m. at the Seymour Brewing Company.

Live Music at the Eagles – Past Tense will play from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.


Saturday, November 13

Christmas Open House – Anytime Florals in Brownstown will host its Christmas Open House from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be refreshments, door prizes and discounts.

Mistletoe Market – Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour will host the Mistletoe Market craft show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 1202 North Ewing Street.

Country Neighbors Tour – The Country Neighbors “Home for the Holidays” tour will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at home-based businesses in Jackson and Lawrence counties. Stop by the visitor center for a brochure.

Library sale – Friends of the Jackson County Public Library will host its bi-monthly sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Seymour location.

Euchure Tournament – The Pershing Township Lions Club will host a soup supper and euchre tournament at 4:30 p.m. The tournament will start at 6 p.m. It’s $5 for the meal and $5 to participate in the tournament. The menu includes chili, bean soup, potato soup, hot dogs and homemade desserts. In honor of Veterans Day, all veterans will be able to play and eat for free.

“The SeussOdyssey” – Trinity Lutheran High School will present “The SeussOdyssey” at 3 p.m. in the Commons at Trinity Lutheran High School. Tickets are $10.

Monday, November 15

Shoe Box Collection – Cornerstone Community Church will serve as a collection site for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. Toys, school supplies, clothing, hygiene items and more are packed into the boxes and sent to people in need around the world. Collection week is November 15 through 22. Information: 812-522-7804. The church is located at 1088 Sarasota Drive, Seymour.


Wednesday, November 17

SICA Art Club – The Southern Indiana Center for the Arts has started its SICA Art Club! Drop in between 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday each week to work on your latest project! All ages and mediums are welcome and you don’t have to be a member. There is a suggested $10 donation.
