The holiday season continues to roll right along here in Jackson County! Take a look at all the fun planned this weekend!

Thursday, December 8

Making Spirits Brighter – Seymour Parks and Recreation will host Making Spirits Brighter, a Holiday Mixology Class, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery in downtown Seymour. Tickets are $30 and a class on how to mix Christmas cocktails, a drink, nacho bar, and a sweet treat. Limited to 50. Register by calling 812-522-6420 or by clicking here.

Wooden Lantern Centerpiece – Schneider Nursery will host a Wooden Lantern Centerpiece workshop at 6:30 p.m. at the nursery, 3066 U.S. 50, Seymour. Ticket purchase includes fresh greenery, berries, pinecones, lantern, oasis and tray. Additional items such as bows, candles and ornaments are available for purchase. Evening classes include a holiday snack and adult beverages. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.


Friday, December 9

Festival of Trees – The Jackson County History Center’s Festival of Trees will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the center, 105 North Sugar Street, Brownstown. This year’s theme is Snowmen. It’s free to attend and view the entries, but donations will be accepted.

Live Nativity – Immanuel Lutheran Church will host a Live Nativity from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, 605 South Walnut Street, Seymour. The night will feature the Holy Family, animals, shepards, and angels, along with music, readings and the Christmas story.

Wonderland of Lights – The Tiemeyer’s Farm Market Wonderland of Lights will run at 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturday from November 18 through December 17 at the market, 3147 South County Road 300W, Vallonia. Rides begin at 6 p.m. and run each hour. Tickets are $10 per person, or $8 for private groups. (Private groups may schedule on off night with a minimum of 30). Couples’ Night at Schneider Nursery – Grab your significant other and come create a Kissing Ball at 6:30 p.m. with Schneider Nursery. Drinks and snacks will be provided, as well as a Kissing Ball kit that includes the base, oasis, fresh greenery, berries and pinecones. Additional décor will be available for purchase. Tickets are $55 and can be purchased by clicking here.

‘A Gift to Remember’ – Jackson County Community Theatre will present “A Gift to Remember” at 7:30 p.m. December 9, 10 at the Royal-Off-the-Square Theatre in Brownstown. There will be a matinee at 2:30 p.m. December 4. Click here to order tickets or call 812-358-5228.

Live music at the Eagles – Fred + Steve will play at 7:30 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 112 East Second Street, in downtown Seymour.


Saturday, December 10

Gray-Bear Market – The Gray-Bear Christmas Market will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Girls Inc. of Jackson County, 956 North O’Brien Street, Seymour.

Train Show – The Southern Indiana Model Train Association will host its annual train show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Seymour Museum Center, 220 South Chestnut Street, Seymour. Model trains will be set up in multiple rooms and there will be vintage Christmas decorations on display. It also will be a great opportunity to see the progress on the museum. A train set will be given away at 3 p.m. each day. Santa also will be making an appearance!

Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1035 A Avenue, Seymour. If you cannot make it during those hours, you may schedule a tour by calling 812-271-1821.

Small Town Christmas – Schneider Nursery will host its Small Town Christmas from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the nursery, 3066 U.S. 50, Seymour. Ticket purchases are good for a family of up to 5 people to hear a local Christmas book read aloud at our “Jackson County Library,” visit “Roksey Roller Rink” in our greenhouse (bring your own skates and helmet), watch a holiday classic at “StarDust Theatre,” make a digital memory with the Jackson County Visitor Center, have memorable holiday pictures taken with local favorite, Jamie Marshall of Marshall Memories, and create a Christmas memory using fresh greenery from Schneider Nursery. Santa Claus – Santa Claus will hear Christmas wishes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Crossroads Community Park in downtown Seymour.

Children’s Christmas Festival – Seymour Christian Church will offer the Children’s Christmas Festival from 4 t o6 p.m. at the church, 915 Kasting Road, Seymour. The event will include pictures with Santa, carnival games, wagon rides, outdoor fire pit, food, sand art, letters to Santa, and gift wrapping.

Soup Supper & Euchre Tournament – The Pershing Township Lions Club will host its Soup Supper and Euchre Tournament at the Freetown Senior Center, 6807 North Union Street. Meals begin at 4:30 p.m. and the tournament begins at 6 p.m. It’s $5 for the meal and $5 to enter the tournament. There will be chili, bean soup, loaded potato soup, cornbread, hot dogs and homemade desserts. Information: 812-528-1507.

Night in Bethlehem – Trinity United Methodist Church will host a Night in Bethlehem from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church, 333 South Chestnut Street, Seymour. Families and children will be able to wander through Bethlehem at the time of Jesus’ birth and visit different stops along the way before arriving at the stables where they will meet Mary and Joseph.

Christmas Chaos Wrestling Match – Supreme Wrestling will offer the Christmas Chaos Wrestling Match at 3 p.m. at Racin’ Mason Pizza and Fun Zone, 369 Tanger Blvd, Seymour. Tickets are $10 at the door the day of the event. Doors will open at 2 p.m.

Stardust Movie Series – The Jackson County Chamber will partner with the First Presbyterian Church in Seymour for the final Stardust Movie Series of the year! “The Grinch” will be shown at 4 p.m. at the church, 401 North Walnut Street, Seymour.

Community Caroling – Trinity United Methodist Church will host Community Caroling at 6 p.m. at Crossroads Community Park in downtown Seymour. Music will be provided by Georgiann Coons. There will be hot chocolate and cookies following the event.

Cookies with Santa – The Seymour Parks and Recreation Department will offer Cookies with Santa at 5:30 p.m. at the Seymour Community Center, 107 South Chestnut Street, in downtown Seymour.

Christmas in the Barn – The Jackson County History Center’s Christmas in the Barn will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the center, 105 North Sugar Street, Brownstown. There will be cookies, hot chocolate, and a Christmas Choir. The Festival of Trees also will be open. This year’s theme is Snowmen. It’s free to attend and view the entries, but donations will be accepted.
