The month of May keeps rolling by and with it comes some great traditions here in Jackson County! A popular summer concert series returns as well as a barn market, glamper event and so much more. Here’s Your Guide to the Weekend by the Jackson County Visitor Center.

Thursday, May 19

SICA Art Club – Join the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts’ Art Club from 2 to 7 p.m. at the center, 2001 North Ewing Street, Seymour. Bring what you’ve been working on and enjoy the company of other artists.

Live music at Reed’s Place – Fred Elam will play from 6 to 8 p.m. at Reed’s Place Steak & Chop Shop, 224 South Chestnut Street.

Seymour City Jam – It’s Seymour Main Street’s first Seymour City Jam of the year. Mellencougar – a John Mellencamp Tribute Band will perform at 6:30 p.m. at Crossroads Community Park in downtown Seymour. Food and drinks will begin at 6 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and don’t forget to visit the event sponsors for information and giveaways.


Friday, May 20

Great U.S. 50 Yard Sale – The 23rd annual Great U.S. 50 Yard Sale will be held from May 20 through May 22. There are no official hours or fees involved.

Hen and Chicks Barn Market – Hens and Chicks Barn Market is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Three Bin Farm, 5602 East County Road 100N, Seymour. Shop through all the vendors in this quaint country setting, take in all the food and entertainment as well.

Happy Glamper – Seymour Main Street’s Happy Glamper event will take play from 5 to 8 p.m. in downtown Seymour. Check out all the vintage glampers and enjoy downtown Seymour.

Sip N Stroll – Seymour Main Street’s Sip N Stroll will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. in downtown Seymour. This event is 21+ and tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the gate. Registration is at the Robertson Feed Mill Parking Lot and includes a commemorative tasting glass. Various locations in downtown will host a brewery or winery.

Medora Timberjacks – The Medora Timberjacks will play the Henry County All Americans at 7 p.m. at Medora High School, 200 West Main Street, Medora.

Live music at On the Rox – Acoustic Crossroads will perform at 8 p.m. on the patio at On the Rox, 214 South Broadway Street, Seymour. 


Saturday, May 21

Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1035 A Avenue, Seymour. Be sure to check out this wonderful place that is open each Saturday!

Race – It’s race night at Brownstown Speedway! Be sure to stop by the track and see the Pro Late Models, Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, Hornets, and Crown Vics. View the full schedule and get ticket information at brownstownspeedway.com.

Live music at Brewskie’s Downtown – Ruben Guthrie will play at 7 p.m. at Brewskies Downtown, 117 East Second Street, Seymour. 

Live music at Poplar Street Restaurant – Matt Trimnell will play at 7 p.m. at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour.

Medora Timberjacks – The Medora Timberjacks will play the Dayton Flight at 7 p.m. at Medora High School, 200 West Main Street, Medora.


Sunday, May 22

Great U.S. 50 Yard Sale – The 23rd annual Great U.S. 50 Yard Sale will be held from May 20 through May 22. There are no official hours or fees involved.

Guided Hike Series – Healthy Jackson County and the Indiana DNR will meet at 2 p.m. at the at the Knob Lake Dam in Jackson-Washington State Forest for the Guided Hike Series. It is free and participants should bring a bottle of water.

Wednesday, May 25

Wednesday Evening Rides – Join the Jackson County Bicycle Club for its Wednesday Evening Ride. The group will leave at 6 p.m. from Central Christian Church, 1434 West Second Street from the parking lot facing Westgate Road. This week’s ride is 3.5 miles. The group increases each week by a half mile until they reach 10-mile rides each week through October. Visit the Facebook group for updates and more information.
