Thursday, May 5

SICA Art Club – Join the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts’ Art Club from 2 to 7 p.m. at the center, 2001 North Ewing Street, Seymour. Bring what you’ve been working on and enjoy the company of other artists.

Mommy and Me Class – Anytime Florals and Gifts will host a Mommy and Me Class at 6:30 p.m. at the store, 310 east Commerce Street, Brownstown. The cost is $40. Call 812-358-5680 for details.

Live music at the Jackson County Visitor Center – The Crossroads Songwriter Series featuring Stephanie Lambring and Nicholas Jamerson at the visitor center, 100 North Broadway Street, Seymour. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the visitor center during business hours or by clicking this link.


Friday, May 6

Swing to End Hunger Golf Scramble – The Swing to End Hunger Golf Scramble is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Shadowood Golf Course, 333 North Sandy Creek Drive, Seymour. Registration and lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the shotgun start will begin at 12:30 p.m. This event benefits Blessings in a Backpack. Seymour FFA Plant Sale – The Seymour FFA is hosting its plant sale from 4 to 6 p.m. at the school, 1350 West Second Street. There are vegetables, perennials, annuals, ferns and succulents available.

Friday Night Live – The Alley Katz will play for the first SICA Friday Night Live from 7 to 9 p.m. at the center, 2001 North Ewing Street, Seymour. It is free and those who attend may bring blankets, coolers and chairs.


Saturday, May 7

Welcome Back to the Wild – The Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge will host its Welcome Back to the Wild event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the refuge. The day includes:
8 a.m.: Bird Walk | 10 a.m.: Hawk + Eagle Program w/ live birds | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Children’s Nature Activities | 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Silent Auction | Noon: Jr. Duck Stamp Contest Recognition | Noon: Tree Walk w/ David Coppert | 12:30 p.m.: Cake Walk | 1 p.m. Owl Program w/ live birds. Please note this event may have to be canceled on short notice, check the refuge Facebook page for more.

Small Town Spring Market – The Small Town Spring Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Shields Park, 703 North Park Street, Seymour. Shop through a variety of vendors including garage sale items, flea market items, crafters, baked goods, direct sales companies, small businesses, an auto parts swap meet, and food trucks. Seymour Area Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will operate a Special Mother’s Day market from 9 a.m. to noon in the Walnut Street Parking Lot in Seymour.

Seymour FFA Plant Sale – The Seymour FFA is hosting its plant sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school, 1350 West Second Street. There are vegetables, perennials, annuals, ferns and succulents available.

Crothersville High School Greenhouse – The Crothersville High School Greenhouse will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school, 109 North Preston Street, Crothersville. The greenhouse will also be open during regular school hours. Horticulture students have grown a variety of flowers and vegetables. Hanging baskets will be available. Information: 812-793-2051.

Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1035 A Avenue, Seymour. Be sure to check out this wonderful place that is open each Saturday!

Book Sale – Friends of the Jackson County Public Library will host its book sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7, in the library meeting room at the Seymour location. Friends members can shop from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday. It’s $5 a bag from 2 to 4 p.m.

Race – It’s the Scott Patman Memorial Race at Brownstown Speedway! Be sure to stop by the track and see the Pro Late Models, Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, Hornets, and Crown Vics. View the full schedule and get ticket information at brownstownspeedway.com.

Live music at The Blue Bird – Forrest Turner will play at 8 p.m. at The Bluebird Cafe, 2418 South Main Street, Vallonia.

Live music at The Thirsty Sportsman – Paradigm will perform at 9 p.m. at The Thirsty Sportsman, 205 North Armstrong Street, Crothersville.

Wednesday Evening Rides – Join the Jackson County Bicycle Club for its Wednesday Evening Ride. The group will leave at 6 p.m. from Central Christian Church, 1434 West Second Street from the parking lot facing Westgate Road. This week’s ride is 3 miles. The group increases each week by a half mile until they reach 10-mile rides each week through October. Visit the Facebook group for updates and more information.

Trivia Night at Poplar Street Restaurant – Patty Brothers Entertainment will host its spring trivia series at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour. The series is five straight weeks and each week will be a different theme.
