Here’s Your Guide to the Weekend by the Jackson County Visitor Center! There is plenty of variety this weekend, so take a look and plan out what all you want to do!

Thursday, September 8

SICA Art Club – Join the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts’ Art Club from 2 to 7 p.m. at the center, 2001 North Ewing Street, Seymour. Bring what you’ve been working on and enjoy the company of other artists.


Friday, September 9

Country Neighbors ‘Reap the Harvest’ Home Tour – The Country Neighbors’ ‘Reap the Harvest’ Tour is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at various home-based businesses in Jackson and Lawrence counties. Stop by the Jackson County Visitor Center for a brochure or find more on the Country Neighbors’ Facebook page.

Heritage Days – Heritage Days will begin at 10 a.m. at the Jackson County History Center, 105 North Sugar Street, Brownstown. There will be self guided tours and ham and beans available.

Car Wash – Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County will host a car wash from 5 to 7 p.m. at Taco Bell, 1509 East Tipton Street, Seymour. It’s a freewill donation that will go to support the program.

Mariachi Band – A live Mariachi band will play from 6 to 9 p.m. at San Marco’s Mexican Restaurant, 501 North Ewing Street, Seymour.

Live music at Chateau de Pique – The Alley Katz Band will play at 6 p.m. at Chateau de Pique Winery and Brewery, 6361 North County Road 760E, Seymour.

Friday Night Live – Sounds of Dreams will close out the season of Friday Night Live from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts’, 2001 North Ewing Street, Seymour.

Live music at Harmony Park –  Wyld Ryde will play at 7 p.m. at Harmony Park at the Brooklyn Pizza Company 753 West Second Street, Seymour. Tickets are available by clicking here. 

Live music at Rails – Michael Staublin will play at 7 p.m. at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery, 114 St. Louis Avenue, Seymour.

Live music at The Eagles – Rich Hampton will play at 7:30 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 122 East Second Street, Seymour.

Live music at Poplar Street Restaurant – Adam Crabtree will play at  8 p.m. at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour.

Live music at On the Rox – Acoustic Crossroads will perform at 8 p.m. on the patio at On the Rox, 214 South Broadway Street, Seymour.


Saturday, September 10

Craft Show – The Phi Beta Phi Theta NU Craft Show will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crothersville Vernon Township VFD, 200 Moore Street, Crothersville. There will be multiple vendors and the department will be frying fish. Information: Phyllis Hall 812-216-3486 or Mitzi Hoevener 812-498-1799.

Seymour Area Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market Market Lite fall season will operate from 9 a.m. to noon in the Walnut Street Parking Lot in Seymour.

Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1035 A Avenue, Seymour. Be sure to check out this wonderful place that is open each Saturday!

Grab & Go Cookout – Emanuel Lutheran Church Dudleytown will host its annual Grab & Go Cookout from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church, 2174 South County Road 750E, Seymour. The meal is a freewill donation and includes two options: A tenderloin sandwich or pork burger sandwich with baked beans, baked potato, coleslaw, and the choice of a homemade dessert. Euchre Tournament – The Pershing Township Lions Club will host its Soup Supper and Euchre Tournament at the Freetown Senior Center, 6807 North Union Street. Meals begin at 4:30 p.m. and the tournament begins at 6 p.m. It’s $5 for the meal and $5 to enter the tournament. There will be chili, bean soup, loaded potato soup, cornbread, hot dogs and homemade desserts. Information: 812-528-1507.

Denim & Diamonds – The Seymour Parks and Recreation Department will host the Denim & Diamonds Mother/Son Dance from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Crossroads Community Park in downtown Seymour. There will be pizza from Brewskie’s Downtown, Kona Ice, a DJ and dancing. Tickets are $25 and are limited to 50. Call 812-523-5893 to register.

Steve Deweese Benefit at Harmony Park – There will be a benefit for Steve Deweese at 6 p.m. at Harmony Park at the Brooklyn Pizza Company 753 West Second Street, Seymour. There will be music, a silent auction, and a percentage of Brooklyn Pizza Company sales will go to Deweese.

Indiana High School Rodeo – The Indiana High School Rodeo will begin at 6:45 p.m. at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. The gates open at 6 p.m. and tickets are $5, those who are 10 and under are free.

Live music at the Moose Lodge – Forrest Turner and Rich Hampton will play at 7:30 p.m. at the Seymour Moose Lodge 418, 100 East Sixth Street, Seymour.

Live music at Poplar Street Restaurant – Soul Shine will play at 5 p.m. at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour. Patrick Boyd will then take stage at 7 p.m.

Movie Night – The Seymour High School Football Parents Club will host movie night at 8:30 p.m. at Bulleit Stadium at Seymour High School. The movie “The Blindside” will be shown on the field. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for those under 18. Concessions will be available for purchase.


Sunday, September 11

Ministry Carnival – St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Brownstown will host a Ministry Carnival from 2 to 5 p.m. at the church, 403 West Bridge Street, Brownstown. There will be carnival food ,games, and prizes at the shelter house, plus more than 20 booths with organizations and outreach ministries.

Fish Fry Fundraiser – Immanuel Lutheran School will host its annual fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. at its booth within the Jackson County Fairgrounds, 476 East County Road 100S, Brownstown. The meal is a freewill donation that will benefit the school.

Indiana High School Rodeo – The Indiana High School Rodeo will begin at 5:45 p.m. at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. The gates open at 5 p.m. and tickets are $5, those who are 10 and under are free.

Wednesday Evening Rides – Join the Jackson County Bicycle Club for its Wednesday Evening Ride. The group will leave at 6 p.m. from Central Christian Church, 1434 West Second Street from the parking lot facing Westgate Road. This week’s ride is 10 miles. The group will ride 10 miles every Wednesday through October. Visit the Facebook group for updates and more information.
