September brings Fall, and with it comes all sorts of fun in Jackson County! Here’s your guide to everything this September in Jackson County!

Monday, September 25

Knitting Group – SICA’s knitting group will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. September 25, at the center, 2001 North Ewing Street, Seymour. It’s free to attend.


Wednesday, September 27

Nature Explorer’s Club – The Nature Explorer’s Club will meet at 5 p.m. September 27, at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, Seymour. The group meets each week for 12 weeks with a different theme, story, snack, song, activity, hike, journal, and play. Click here to sign up.

Tasting – Vick’s Liquor Store will host a Benchmark bourbon tasting from 6 to 7 p.m. September 27, at the store, 400 East Tipton Street, Seymour.

Live music at Harmony Park – Ruben Guthrie will play at 6:30 p.m. September 27, at Harmony Park, 753 West Second Street, Seymour.


Friday, September 29

Hen & Chicks Barn Market – The Hen and Chicks Barn Market is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. September 29, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. September 30, at the Three Bin Farm, 5602 East County Road 100N, Seymour. There are more than 70 vendors, food, entertainment, and more. It’s $5 to enter. Learn by visiting their website.

Indiana Retro Expo – The Indiana Retro Expo Fall Toy & Comic Show will be 5 to 9 p.m. September 29, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. September 30, at Hampton Inn Seymour, 247 North Sandy Creek Drive, Seymour. It’s $10 for a two-day pass or $5 for Saturday only. Kids 12 and under get free admission.

Live music at Chateau de Pique – Albert Nolting will play at 6 p.m. September 29, at Chateau de Pique Winery & Brewery, 6361 North County Road 760E, Seymour.

Fall Workshop – Jubilee Flowers & gifts will host a Bleached Pumpkin & Fresh Floral Arrangement workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. September 29, at the Seymour Community, 107 South Chestnut Street, Seymour. It’s $35 and includes materials, food, drinks, and desserts. Register by calling 812-522-6420 or at Seymour City Hall.

Live music at Harmony Park – Gabe Wilson & Friends will play at 6:30 p.m. September 29, at Harmony Park, 753 West Second Street, Seymour.

Live music at Poplar Street – Justyn Underwood will play at 7 p.m. September 29, at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour.

‘Misery’ – The Jackson County Community Theatre will present ‘Misery’ with shows at 7:30 p.m. September  29, 30, at the Royal-Off-the-Square Theatre, 121 West Walnut Street, Brownstown. Tickets are $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and children, and are available at Ewing Unique Boutique, Artistic Impressions, or by clicking here.

Live music at On the Rox – Dwight Hendrix will play at 8 p.m. September 29, at On the Rox, 214 South Broadway Street, Seymour.


Saturday, September 30

Seymour Area Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will operate from 8 a.m. to noon September 30, at the farmers market parking lot off Walnut Street.

Jackson County FestAbility – The ARC of Jackson County will host the Jackson County FestAbility from 10 a.m. to noon, September 30, at the Boys & Girls Club of SEymour, 950 North O’Brien Street, Seymour. The event is for those with special needs and their families. There will be face painting, coloring, Play-Doh, therapy dogs, music, dancing, sensory room, Flash the Mini Horse, and door prizes. There also will be resources available for families.

Car Show – The Norman Station Conservation Club will host a car show at 10 a.m. September 30, at the club, 2672 North County Road 1100W, Norman.

Car Show –  Swifty Events will host the Hoods & Horses Car Show from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Swifty Farms, 351 South U.S. 31, Seymour. It’s $20 to enter a car and there will be food and drinks available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Christmas Time free meal program. Info: 812-528-9015.

Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 30, at 1035 A Avenue, Seymour.

Seymour Museum Center – The Seymour Museum Center will be open for its regular hours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 30, at 220 North Chestnut Street, Seymour.

Karts for Kids – Karts for Kids will be at noon September 23, at Racin’ Mason Pizza & Fund Zone, 369 Tanger Boulevard, Seymour. It’s $30 per person for teams of eight to race go karts. Proceeds from the event will go to Karts for Kids, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children in foster care.

Race Night – Race night at Brownstown Speedway will feature ILMS pro late models, Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, Hornets, Crown Vics, at the speedway, 476 East County Road 100S, Brownstown.

Live music at Starve Hollow SRA – Born Again will play at 6:30 p.m. September 30, at Starve Hollow State Recreation Area in Vallonia. The band is bluegrass-style sponsored by the Driftwood Christian Church. The music will take place at the outside stage at the property.

Live music at Poplar Street – Matt Trimnell will play at 7 p.m. September 30, at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour.

Live music at Brewskies Downtown – Sy and Albert will play at 7 p.m. September 30, at Brewskies Downtown, 117 East Second Street, Seymour.

Live music at Brownstown Christian Church – Ryan Stevenson will play at 7 p.m. September 30, at Brownstown Christian Church, 703 West Spring Street, Brownstown.
