This weekend is going to be a blast in Jackson County. See the beauty of classic cars and hear the sounds of the guitars in downtown Seymour this weekend as Cars and Guitars will make its return. This weekend is the 16th annual and all proceeds go to help purchase playground equipment for those with physical disabilities.

This weekend also features all kinds of fun, so let’s get to it!

The Jackson County Visitor Center has you covered. Here’s your guide to the weekend.

Thursday, June 24

Help out – Dogs and Donuts will be set up from 7 a.m. to noon at the corner of Tipton and South Chestnut streets. Donations to Red Sky Rescue will be accepted. The shelter is in need of bleach, peanut butter (without xylitol), canned minced dog food, laundry detergent, paper towels, trash bags, small lap throws, or monetary donations. Mighty Mini Donuts also will be available for purchase.


Friday, June 25

Fuel up for a good cause – Country Mark’s Fueling Freedom Day will be from noon to 5 p.m. at all Premiere Energy locations. 50 cents of each gallon of fuel sold during that time will be donated to the National Guard and readiness groups. There will be a raffle and drawing for prizes, too.

Family movie – A free family movie will be offered at 6:30 p.m. at the Crothersville United Methodist Church. Children of all ages are welcome and there will be free refreshments.

Live music at VFW – Steve Deweese will play at 7 p.m. at the Seymour VFW.

Live music at Rails – Brian Hopkins will play from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery.

Live music at On the Rox – The Clint Robinson Band will play at 8:30 p.m. at On the Rox.

Movie Night – The Stardust Movie Night by the Jackson County Chamber will be at 9 p.m. at the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts. They will show “Goonies” and it is sponsored by Uptown Realty Partners. You can bring lawn chairs and blankets.


Saturday, June 26

Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon in the Walnut Street Parking Lot.

Pick lavender – The Little Lavender Place will host a U Pick Lavender from 8 a.m. to noon at the farm, 10522 North County Road 300E, Seymour.

Go kids! – The Boys & Girls Club of Seymour will host the 8th annual Youth Triathlon at Seymour High School at 8:30 a.m. They need volunteers, so call 812-528-8093 to help out.

Register your child for this event.

Cars and Guitars – The 16th annual Cars and Guitars will take place from noon to 9 p.m. in downtown Seymour. Don’t miss the car show and concert by the Sounds of Summer, a tribute to the Beach Boys.

Don Russ Memorial – The Don Russ Memorial at Brownstown Speedway will take place at 6 p.m.

Live music at Rails – John Whitcomb will play from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery.

Live Music at Jackson Live – SHILOH will play at 7 p.m. at Jackson Live. The show will include Kayce Sexton, Lanny McIntosh, David Graves and more. For tickets, call 812-521-1282. Adults $15 and those under 12 are free.

Live music at Luke’s Country Inn – Justyn Underwood will play at 8 p.m. at Luke’s Country Inn.

Golf Tournament – The 40th annual Dr. Bud Charity Golf Tournament is Wednesday, June 30 at Shadowood Golf Course. It all starts at 8 a.m. and proceeds go to provide scholarships to nursing students. Call Robin Meffert at 812-524-4238 or Fayeann Hurley at 812-523-7849 for more information.

Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon in the Walnut Street Parking Lot on Wednesday, June 30.

Art in the Park – The Jackson County Library will host Art in the Park at Gaiser Park at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30. It’s open to children from 0 to 8. Call the Library at 812-522-3412 for more information.
