The fun in July has only started! You have to check out some of the events that are going on this weekend. From Christmas in July and fun 5Ks to all your live music options and golf, this weekend is jam-packed with family fun.

The Jackson County Visitor Center has you covered. Here’s your Guide to the Weekend!

Friday, July 9

Live Music at Rails – Adam Crabtree will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery.

Live Music at On the Rox –  9 to 44 will play from 8 to 11 p.m. at On the Rox.

Movie Night – The Jackson County Visitor Center is sponsoring the Jackson County Chamber’s Stardust Movie Series. It’s Christmas in July at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Heritage Park in Brownstown. We will be showing National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Come with a small gift ($5-$10) at 8:30 p.m. and we will do a Dirty Santa gift exchange. Dress in your Christmas best!

Runnin’ in the dark – The Midnight Run 5K will begin at midnight at Seymour High School. This event benefits the school’s Cross Country Team.

Saturday, July 10

Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to noon in the Walnut Street Parking Lot.

Freetown Run – The Pershing Township Volunteer Fire Department 5K will begin at 8 a.m. in Freetown. This benefits the local volunteer fire department.

Register for this race. 

Race time – There will be pro late models, modifieds, pure stocks, crown vics and MMSA mini sprints at 6 p.m. at Brownstown Speedway.

Live Music at Harmony Park – Skyline Drive will perform at 7 p.m. at Harmony Park in Seymour.

Live Music at Jackson Live – Jackson Live will have a lot of musicians on hand for a performance at 7 p.m. They include Jean Ann Parker, Ivan Burton, Allen Purtlebaugh, Dave Jackson, Ed Davis, James Cave and Leighanne Cooper. Tickets are $15 and you can order by calling 812-521-1282 or buying at the door.

Live Music at Rails – Mitch Ellis will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rails Craft Brew and Eatery.

Live Music at Poplar Street – Retro Betty will perform at 8 p.m. at Poplar Street Restaurant.

Live Music at Brewskies Downtown –  Bad Medicine will perform at 8 p.m. at Brewskies Downtown.


Sunday, July 11

Golf for a cause – The 20th annual Nick Personett Memorial Golf Scramble is at 1 p.m. at Shadowood Golf Course. It’s $55 per person or $220 per team with all proceeds going to Camp Riley. The cost includes green fees, cart, snacks and lunch will be served at noon.

Art Camp – SICA will host its Summer Art Camp from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 12 through July 16.

Art in the Park – The Jackson County Library will host Art in the Park at 10:30 a.m. July 14 at Gaiser Park. Call 812-522-3412 ext. 1222 to register.
