Fall weather is in the air, and there’s so much to enjoy in Jackson County this weekend! Check it out!

Friday, September 15

Hispanic Heritage Month Fiesta – The Seymour Parks & Recreation Department will host the Hispanic Heritage Month Fiesta from 5 to 8 p.m. September 15, at Shields Park, 703 North Park Street, Seymour. The event is free to attend and will include music, dancing, food trucks, bouncy houses, and piñatas.

Live music at Harmony Park – Bomar & Ritter will play at 6:30 p.m. September 15, at Harmony Park, 753 West Second Street, Seymour.

Live music at Side Track’d – Fred Elam will play at 7 p.m. September 15, at Side Track’d, 1115 West Spring Street, Brownstown.

Live music at Poplar Street – Wayne Deaton will play at 7 p.m. September 15, at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour.

Live music at On the Rox – Forrest Turner will play at 8 p.m. September 15, at On the Rox , 214 South Broadway Street, Seymour.


Saturday, September 16

Seymour Area Farmers Market – The Seymour Area Farmers Market will operate from 8 a.m. to noon September 16, at the farmers market parking lot off Walnut Street.

Craft Show – The Phi Beta Psi Craft show is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. September 16, at the Crothersville-Vernon Township Fire Department, 200 Moore Street, Crothersville. There will be multiple vendors and the department will fry fish from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Freeman Army Airfield Museum – The Freeman Army Airfield Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 16, at 1035 A Avenue, Seymour.

Archaeology Day – Starve Hollow State Recreation Area will host Archaeology Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. September 16, in the property’s nature center in Vallonia. Phillip Nale, a retired conservation officer, will bring his collect of Native American Artifacts. Gate fees to the property are $7 per vehicle.

Elementary Eats – The Jackson County Public Library will host the Elementary Eats: Chopped Edition at 10:30 a.m. September 16, at the Seymour location of the Jackson County Public Library, 303 West Second Street. Teams will compete to make desserts. Registration is required and the event is for grade 1 through 5.

Seymour Museum Center – The Seymour Museum Center will be open for its regular hours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 16, at 220 North Chestnut Street, Seymour.

Golf Scramble – Special Olympics Indiana Jackson County will host its fifth annual Golf Scramble at 11:30 a.m. September 16, Hickory Hills Golf Club, 1509 State Road 135, Brownstown. Lunch is at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start beginning at 1 p.m. It’s $60 per person. For more information, contact Zach Spicer at 812-595-9162.

Kilnfest – The 4th annual Medora Brick Plant Kiln Fest is scheduled for noon to midnight, September 16 at the former plant, 8202 West County Road 425S, Medora. There will be live music, craft vendors, food, and other activities for the family.

Children’s Sing & Play Along – Charlie Voss and Jim King will host a Children’s Sing & Play Along as part of the Seymour High School Class of 1963’s class reunion at noon September 16, at Brewskies Downtown, 117 East Second Street, Seymour.

Artful Fair – SICA will host its annual Artful Fair 2 to 6 p.m., September 16, at SICA, 2001 North Ewing Street, Seymour. The event will feature food, art, games, carnival activities, live music and more. The night will end with a live performance featuring Lily & Madeleine. Tickets are $25 for adults and free for those 12 and under.

Chicken BBQ – The Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Chicken BBQ Dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. September 16, at the department, 6843 North County Road 400E, Seymour. Click here for the Facebook Event Page.

Live music at Harmony Park – Another Fine Mess will play at 6:30 p.m. September 16, at Harmony Park, 753 West Second Street, Seymour.

Live music at Poplar Street – The Black & White Blue Band will play at 7 p.m. September 16, at Poplar Street Restaurant, 513 South Poplar Street, Seymour.

Race – Brownstown Speedway will host the Schaefer Photo & Custom Designs race September 16, at Brownstown Speedway, 476 East County Road 100S, Brownstown. The race will feature ILMS Pro Late Models, Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, Hornets, and Crown Vics.


Sunday, September 17

Yoga & Wine – Wild Moon Yoga will continue its 2023 Wine & Yoga tour at 10:30 a.m. September 17, at Salt Creek Winery, 7603 West County Road 925N, Freetown. The yoga portion will be an hour long and then the group will relax with wine. Click here for tickets.

Fish Fry – Trinity Lutheran Church will host its 22nd annual Fish Fry from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the church, 4413 State Road 135, Vallonia. Drive thru or dine in is available.

Sleep Seminar – Dr. Emilee SurVance will host a Sleep Seminar at 6:30 p.m. September 19, at the Schneck Professinoal Building in Parking Garage Level 3. The event will feature SurVance’s sleep specialty expertise for adults and pediatric patients.


Wednesday, September 20

Nature Explorer’s Club – The Nature Explorer’s Club will meet at 5 p.m. September 20, at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, Seymour. The group meets each week for 12 weeks with a different theme, story, snack, song, activity, hike, journal, and play. Click here to sign up.
